Project Tierra

coming soon: the 2nd Project Tierra CD

Contribute your voice to the new Project Tierra CD

We are finishing the 2nd Project Tierra CD titled We Came From Fire. On the final track (track 14) we are sampling the phrase "we came from fire" in as many languages as possible, spoken in the speaker's native language. The voices are overdubbed on a background of destructive noises; fire, explosions, trees falling, rocks crumbling, etc. The idea is that spirits are being reborn phoenix-like out of the destruction.

The languages we currently have are:

Chamoru
Czech
English
Esperanto
Farsi
French
German
Hebrew
Hindi
Indonesian
Italian
Japanese
Mandinka
Portuguese
Russian
Spanish
Taiwanese
Teluga

If you would like to participate simply record your voice on whatever recording device you have available and email the audio file to lja@sunecho.com. The technical quality is not critical as long as the phrase is audible. (If you are unable to make a recording yourself you can leave a voicemail at 415-824-9417.)

Repeat the phrase "we came from fire" a few times so we have some choices. Speaking the phrase slowly tends to work best. The translation doesn't have to be literal as long as the idea of an origin, birth or rebirth out of fire or destruction is conveyed. For the sake of conceptual integrity the phrase must be spoken in your NATIVE language (exceptions for Elvish, Latin, Esperanto and Klingon).

This will be uncredited and we may not use your voice if it's a duplicate of a language we already have.

The track preview and the list of languages above will be updated as new voices are added.

The finished CD will be available for free listening on this site and at Last.fm.

Thank you!,

Project Tierra
