Project Tierra

Jorge Molina

Project Tierra is a journey which started in 1980 at the foot of the Andes. It was the First Indigenous World Congress and it took place in the town of Ollantaytambo Peru. In the meetings with several indigenous groups, including members from the Amazonian Basin, the future of the planet was discussed. The damage being brought on their lands by the indiscriminate exploitation of the natural resources was a major point of contention. The general consensus was that our beautiful Mama Pacha (Mother Earth) was in danger. The main concern from many of the members of several Andean as well as Rain Forest groups was that modern societies are not paying attention to the signals. Many rapidly growing concerns came from people who feel their way of life is in danger of obliteration by the forces of progress.

This music represents many of these concerns. We try to bring to you a representation of the possibilities of healing our planet and really paying attention to the signals.
Our respect for the indigenous ways gives this project an urgent note. The tribal belief is that it is in our power to save our beautiful planet.
We dedicate this music to the tribes that are struggling for survival on this planet and we honor the ancestral traditions that keep us to the task of healing.
